Welcome to my website! Here you will find many paintings and drawings that celebrate the wondrous beauty of Nature. I have been a fine artist painter for over 20 years, and I continue to be humbled by what the forest, the seacoast, and other scenes bring to this journey. My medium is primarily oil, but I do also love working with graphite, especially when I become obsessed with the some ancient gnarly tree I come across in the forest. The art you will see here is a labor of love. Sometimes painting can be intensively hard work, yet it is always a deeply rooted therapy that calms the soul and grounds me to the earth. For me, being an artist is not only a devotion to the grace, wisdom, and beauty of Mother Nature, but a commitment to being one's true self in this labyrinth called life.
My style of painting is primarily Naturalism. The work of Ivan Shishkin, Andrew Wyeth, Alexei Alexandrovich Pisemsky, Peter Mork Monsted, Andrey Shilder, Worthington Whittredge, and Asher Durand is an important influence on my art; they are my true teachers. I am also indebted to the ideals of William Morris and the Arts & Crafts Movement, which I continue to amalgamate into my paintings.
